Membership eligibility check
Answer a few questions to see if you can join. It takes under a minute.
Are you employed in the UK?
Full-time, part-time and self-employed all count.
Have you previously been employed in the UK?
For example, you are now unemployed or retired, but you were employed in the past.
Does someone in your household already qualify and is, or will become, a member?
If someone you live with qualifies and is a member, or joins first, then you qualify too.
Are you applying for any of the following loan products?
If you are here from a partner, you qualify.
You qualify
Based on your answers, you can join Capital Credit Union.
You may be asked to confirm how you qualify when you apply.
You may not qualify just yet
You may not meet the main criteria, but there could be another route for you, including our listed organisations below.
How our common bond works
Capital Credit Union operates an occupational common bond, meaning membership is open to people who work, or have previously worked, within specific UK occupational categories defined by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
You only need to qualify through one of the following.
Current employment
You currently work in an eligible occupation. Full-time, part-time and contract all count.
Previous employment
You worked in an eligible occupation in the past, including if you have since retired or become a student.
Household membership
You live at the same address as an existing qualifying member. You need not qualify by occupation yourself.
Listed organisations
You are a current member of one of our listed partner organisations. View the list.
Already a member? If you joined under our previous geographical bond, your membership stays valid. You do not need to requalify.
Who does not qualify
You would not qualify if you:
- Have never worked in an eligible occupation
- Do not qualify via your household
- Are not a member of a listed organisation
If you're unsure, our team is happy to help clarify. Get in touch.
