Helping good causes
in your community
Every month we donate £500 to a local organisation making a real difference. Our members nominate the causes and we decide together where the money goes.
Simple. Local. Member-led.
As a member, you can put forward a local cause you believe in. We take it from there.
You nominate a cause
You spot a local organisation doing great work and fill in the nomination form with details about them and the specific project needing support.
We review nominations
Our team goes through every submission, looking at the project, who it will benefit, and how the £500 will make a specific, tangible difference.
We make the donation
We select the recipient and make the £500 donation. We share the story with our members so everyone can see the impact.
Nominations are currently paused
We are not accepting new nominations for Capital in the Community at this time. Please check back in the future for updates. Thank you for your continued support of local causes.

Simple. Local.
What we are looking for
We aim to fund local causes making a hands-on difference. The £500 should go towards something specific: a project, an item, or an event.
What qualifies
- Local organisations or groups based in the UK
- Registered charities or voluntary groups (we consider both)
- A specific project, purchase or event the £500 will fund
- Smaller, grassroots causes where £500 will genuinely move the needle
- Organisations willing to share the impact of the donation if asked
What does not qualify
- Large, well-funded national charities with significant existing resources
- General running costs, salaries or ongoing operational expenses
- Repaying loans or clearing existing debts
- Organisations outside the UK
- The same organisation more than once in any 12-month period
Make your nomination as detailed as possible
Tell us specifically what the £500 will be used for, whether that is a piece of equipment, materials for an event, or funding a particular activity. Be clear about who will benefit and how. The more detail you include, the stronger your nomination will be. You can check if an organisation is a registered charity at OSCR.
Members only
Nominations must be submitted by a current Capital Credit Union member. By nominating, you agree that the organisation and Capital Credit Union may participate in PR and marketing related to the award. Membership eligibility criteria apply.
